About Sandy Wilgus – Orange Beach Condo OwnerMy husband and I are happily retired and in our early 60s. We moved from Michigan to Alabama in 2006 after my husband’s retirement from General Motors. Living in Alabama—especially along the Gulf Coast—had always been a lifelong dream of mine after visiting many parts of the state over the years. Fortunately, my husband fell in love with the beach too!We have owned Sandy’s Summer House, our Orange Beach beachfront condo, since 1997 and began vacationing in Orange Beach, Alabama back in 1989. While we continue to rent the condo during peak vacation months and welcome our wonderful snowbird and spring guests, we now enjoy claiming November and December for ourselves.Why Sandy Chose Orange Beach, AlabamaOur love for Orange Beach vacations began in 1989 when our family started visiting the area regularly. We loved it so much that we purchased a two-bedroom, two-bath ocean-side condo just up the street from Summer House. That experience confirmed what we already felt—we wanted to retire in Orange Beach someday.As our family grew, we knew we would eventually need a larger condo to comfortably accommodate our children and their families. After researching several Orange Beach condo resorts, Summer House stood out far above the rest. I still remember standing by the two-tier pool, looking up at the building, and asking my husband if we could ever be fortunate enough to own a unit there.In 1997, that dream became a reality when we purchased Unit 1406A at Summer House Orange Beach. While we don’t live beachfront full-time just yet, we live nearby and visit often—sometimes daily. We take tremendous pride in keeping our Gulf-front vacation rental in the same “ahhh” condition we experienced the very first time we walked in. We truly hope you feel that same sense of relaxation during your stay.What Makes This Orange Beach Condo UniqueThe private Gulf-view balcony is the number one favorite spot—perfect for dining, relaxing, or simply enjoying the sights and sounds of the beach. Guests love easy access to the white-sand beach, the indoor pool and jacuzzi, and the convenience of nearby shopping, dining, and grocery stores in Orange Beach.There’s also plenty of family fun close by, including miniature golf for all ages. Personally, my favorite activity is dolphin watching from the boardwalk by the pool—sometimes for hours at a time! I used to offer a dollar to the first person who could spot a dolphin for me…and it still works to this day.
